"What, we ask, is life
without a touch of poetry in it?"
The Pirate King (Pirates
of Penzance, Gilbert & Sullivan)
I've never been a fan of poetry.
Several Nobel Laureate poets announced today that the
Internet was no place for poetry. "Books," they
said, "are the only venue suitable for such
efforts." They decried the spread of Evil
Technology, which sucks the life from carefully crafted
verse. No self-respecting poet would encourage the
proliferation of rhyme and meter on the Internet.
"Good!" said I to my radio.
"What we ask is life -
without a touch of poetry in it!"

'poetic license')
